November Newsletter

Welcome to the November Edition of Epping Area MG Owners Club Newsletter

Sunday the 20th October saw 4 couples taking part in the MGOC Autumn Gold Run. The run started as usual from the Over Community Centre, where the hot drinks and bacon rolls were a welcome start to the day. The run documentation was excellent and our party only made 1 wrong turning, it was a classic rookie mistake of thinking the person in front knew where they were going. It took us a while to get back on track but after that everything was plain sailing. We stopped halfway for refreshments and a comfort break and the final destination at Stotfold Mill was very interesting. The mill is now fully refurbished after being burnt nearly to the ground and is manned by enthusiastic volunteers who demonstrate the milling machinery. The weather was kind to us, allowing a top down run, with only a slight bit of rain after we’d parked up. We finished the day with a very enjoyable bar meal at the local pub followed by an uneventful trip home. All in all a good day out.

Friday 1st November was quiz night, with 20 people taking part. We decided to have the food at the start of the quiz so people wouldn’t be eating too late, the food was supplied by The Only Way is Fish and I think everyone agreed it was more than acceptable with nice touches like homemade tartar sauce and lemon supplied with the fish orders. This was followed by 4 rounds of questions, some easy and some hard. The winning table captained by Barry manged to pull ahead in the last round to win a well deserved bottle of wine for each member of the team. The non winners (we’re not allowed to use the term losers nowadays) each won a consolation bar of chocolate.
